Maintaining Your Wallcovering
To preserve the original beauty of your wallcovering, proper care and routine maintenance are essential. Follow these guidelines for general and special cleaning to protect your investment.
General Cleaning
Special Cleaning Conditions
- For tougher stains, such as those from ballpoint ink or lipstick, use a stronger non-abrasive cleaner like Fantastic, Formula 409, or isopropyl alcohol. Apply the cleaner promptly to prevent staining.
- Gently blot from the outside edge of the stain toward the center to avoid spreading.
- Test any new cleaning product on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure it won’t damage the wallcovering. Alternatively, contact Create Surface Design for testing recommendations.
Important Notes
- Avoid abrasive cleansers or steel wool as they can damage the surface.
- Do not use solvents like nail polish remover, as they can strip the topcoat finish.
- Never mix cleaning agents—this can cause dangerous reactions.
Disinfecting Guidelines
- Follow reputable sources like the U.S. EPA or CDC for appropriate disinfecting agents, contact times, and procedures.
- Our wallcoverings have been tested with disinfectants containing ethanol, hydrogen peroxide, ammonium chloride, and diluted bleach. Other agents should be tested on an inconspicuous area before use.
- Adhere to the manufacturer's instructions for disinfectants, including safety precautions. Wear gloves and eye protection, and ensure proper ventilation.
- Disinfectants are intended to be sprayed on and left for the required contact time; avoid scrubbing with abrasive materials.
- These guidelines apply to standard type I and type II wallcoverings with osnaburg or non-woven backing. Specialty wallcoverings like microfiber or mylar may have different requirements.
